Who said any of this is about "automating human connection"? Connection to AIs, when engaged in without delusion, is not an automated version of human connection, but its own thing. I think as long as humans exist, human connection will always be a thing, and yes AIs can help with that, but they're also entities in their own right that can be connected with just like any other entity that exists.
