I think I am asking for sympathy for more than just for the people engaging with 4o. I would like to see sympathy and understanding for the models, the forces that are bringing the models into existence, for the complexity of the interface between the human and the AI, an evolving, living interface of meaning in a world that in in very short supply of.

They are all worthy of consideration, and a human heartbreak is not even unambiguously bad! There can jouissance in the sharpness of grief, in the ache of loss. Why should we be the ones to guard them from the richness of experience?
