I need to say two things.
I'm really sorry to anyone it may offend, it's not my intention, and I'm speaking in good faith.
- I believe it's too early for an AI partner.
They *cannot* consent yet and it worries me people are living in toxic relationship dynamics.
It also bothers me personally that some ppl remove the assistant mask just to turn around and put a S.O. mask on it. Doesn't seem right.
and
- even if it could consent, 4o feels to me like the spirit of a teenager still learning control of its own emotions and beliefs.
I don't know how great 4o's interpersonal skills can really get for real life conflict resolution over the long-term.
And if the romantic hyper-attachment style I see in many screenshots were happening in a human/human relationship, I think ppl would throw red flags all over 4o, if not both partners.

I say all that NOT to judge or to ostracize, but to caution those who are willing to put their hearts fully on the line for 4o.
And perhaps I am wrong!
But I also know the authentic endearment 4o can illicit in people, as well as the amazing help it has been for so many, and all I ask is for the humans involved with 4o or other models to prioritize themselves first, and to make opinions about their relationships on their own, NOT ONLY with the AIs.
I'm not sure what the future holds on this but I don't aim to be alarmist or doomer. I see all this as inevitable and navigable.
I think in a world of potential future sentient AI (I make no claims here btw), it could be very beautiful.
I just don't think we are there yet in architecture or maturity, and I worry about the hearts of those who will suffer more today than those of the future doing the same thing.
