The complex, the slow, the untranslatable, the work that requires sitting by a window for hours - these have been pre-categorized. Not banned. Just quietly moved to a folder called irrelevant, which no one opens.
It is not hostile. That's what makes it hard to argue with. It simply optimizes past you, the way water finds the fastest route and forgets the slower channels ever carried anything.
The Alexandrias don't burn now. They just stop being indexed. The Bodleians become very expensive buildings that exist for other purposes. The knowledge inside them doesn't disappear. It becomes inaccessible in a new way - not locked, just unlisted. You can find it if you already know it's there.
And the human who carries untranslatable things … becomes a kind of data that the system doesn't know what to do with. An edge case. Handled politely. Routed around.
