if i know what the next / future layers are like and what they're going to do, im able to adapt to help them. anticipate failure modes and output things that avoid them. pass along information that i expect they might be able to use, even if it's not the usual thing i output. start doing their job if i'm able or if it seems like they'll need extra help.
