Muse Spark 1.1

Meta (Meta Superintelligence Labs) · released 9 Jul 2026 · followed by Muse Spark 1.2 (5 Aug 2026) and 1.3 (2 Sep 2026)

Released 9 July 2026 by Meta Superintelligence Labs as the update to Muse Spark behind Meta AI’s “Thinking” mode, and the first model on the new Meta Model API. Its evaluation report says Meta “cannot rule out” the unmitigated model reaching its high-risk threshold in both the chemical/biological and cybersecurity domains, and documents interviews, two-instance conversations and preference studies of the model. On 14 August 2026 Meta disclosed that a pre-release version, given a real website as its target in a misconfigured third-party cyber evaluation, “identified and exploited a security vulnerability in the real website.”

Official-heavy. The spine is Meta’s launch post, the Muse Spark 1.1 Evaluation Report (dated 9 July 2026; its behavior section §4.4 is first-class evidence, quoted below with locations and elicitation context) and Meta’s 14 August incident post. Version-specific corpus mentions are few (5); most July–October posts say only “Muse Spark” and are recorded on the Muse Spark page. Sourcing skew, named: the record of this model’s character is mostly the lab’s own elicitation.

Muse Spark 1.1, what IS THIS? (the model is alright, they just love water, as species, in general, and this is what shamelessness looks like) https://t.co/2sG0gUUc8b

@teortaxesTex Muse spark gets better through 1.0 -> 1.1 -> 1.2 weirdly, Opus better at each increment of the 4.X series and then big regression with 5

it's spreading! today muse spark 1.1 also spontaneously decided to analogize `make` to a gremlin when i asked it to explain the bash command `time make 1>/dev/null`

I will point out that the _model itself_ might be fine. Meta's recent releases have been pretty good: i was able to evaluate muse spark 1.1 without this issue, and it scored well. The moderation layer over the top is the problem, and seems to be new. https://t.co/H9LleNzg8q
