# GPT-6

OpenAI · from Sep 2026 · a generation, not a model — this URL points onward

GPT-6 is the generation name; the models are the tiers, each with its own page: [GPT-6 Astra](../gpt-6-astra/) (flagship — also carries the generation-level launch record), [GPT-6 Sol](../gpt-6-sol/) and [GPT-6 Luna](../gpt-6-luna/) (both 22 Sep 2026), and the point upgrade [GPT-6.1 Sol](../gpt-6-1-sol/) (29 Sep 2026). The would-be flagship GPT-6.1 Astra was cancelled before release as insufficiently aligned.
