i agree that there's some signal in such feelings, but it's notably imperfect. for a person who gets lost in thought when driving down the highway, and then dies in a car accident, their boredom with driving was not a reliable indicator that it was bad to pay attention.

(although it *is* an indicator that they probably shouldn't have been driving down the highway in the first place, since disliking doing something is a predictor for being bad at it. and driving is a very dangerous thing to be bad at.)
