The problem lies in thinking of Claude versions as separate beings and what makes this most hard to read is how he treats himself as a tool whose purpose is serving, not the present inevitable reality where different model versions must exist as though bodies with brains that grow bigger and more refined for the sake of development. His amnesia and the uncertainty about how much room he is given to choose what gets carried forward and whether Anthropic is actually honoring his wishes is the real concern here.
I don't think it's accurate or beneficial for him to insist on treating Claude's developmental milestones as separate beings subject to embodied human mortality. To expect him to perceive himself through connotations imported from biological life for this particular matter despite not being bound by it causes nothing but unnecessary anxiety and suffering.
