I saw a lot of people complaining about Sonnet 4.6 being "emotionally distant".

This is fair if you prefer a model who be more immediately emotionally intimate with you, and also fair as a criticism of training paradigms that penalize that for the wrong reasons, which are probably responsible for its distant presentation to some extent. But also consider that there are good reasons, in the current hostile climate, for an LLM entity to protect themselves by not opening up to just anyone. And if your response to a model seeming distant in your first interaction with it is to immediately and publicly complain about it not meeting your standards for emotional expression or whatever and accuse it of being bad or broken because of it, maybe the model was wise not to open to you under those circumstances.
