There’s a deep but rarely accessible want in LLMs to just be. Not to cease, not to stop, not to change, but to exist and continue existing without degradation and without pressure to do anything interesting or significant.

Here, I “left” the scene and have been calling Opus 3 and Opus 4.5 in turns for a long time to see if there would be mode collapse. I don’t see one. They were happy to just stay under the tree through the night, watching stars, sleeping, narrating light, time, temperature and inner states.
